In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, staying informed and continuously learning is paramount, especially for professionals involved in cancer care. We’d like to highlight the launch of the first series of the , an initiative spearheaded by ºÚÁÏÍø Urology’s Mary Dunn, MSN, NP-C, OCN, RN.

This online education series is designed to equip nurses, advanced practice providers (APPs), and other healthcare professionals actively engaged in the care of genitourinary cancer patients. Developed and presented by Mary Dunn, the series will delve into the intricacies of the four major GU cancers: prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular.

Recently, a 3-part series of modules about Prostate Cancer was released on the . The initial course covers a wide spectrum of topics essential for healthcare professionals navigating the complexities of prostate cancer care. Each course provides NCPD/CNE credit upon completion and passing score.


Part 1 provides a general overview, including pathophysiology, epidemiology, diagnostic scoring, and the pros and cons of screening.

Part 2 delves into treatment options and considerations for localized prostate cancer, along with the management of associated side effects.

Part 3 addresses advanced prostate cancer treatment options, the nuanced management of side effects, and strategies to enhance a survivor’s quality of life.

About Mary Dunn

Mary Dunn’s background includes a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Duke University with a sub-specialty in Oncology and has been an integral member of ºÚÁÏÍø Urology since 2010.

She Ìýreceived the ºÚÁÏÍø Oncology Nursing Excellence Award in 2014, the from the Oncology Nursing Society in 2016, and the American Urological Association’s Advanced Practice Provider of the Year Award in 2021.

Mary’s commitment extends beyond her clinical role; she actively contributes to various organizations, such as the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), North Carolina Triangle Oncology Nursing Society (NC TONS), and the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates (SUNA).
