Robert Maile, PhD awarded NIH grant.
August 2014 – Rob Maile, PhD And June Brickey PhD of the NC Jaycee Burn Center and Departments of Surgery, and Microbiology and Immunology have received a $112,000 grant from the NIH-administered Radiation Countermeasures Center of Research Excellence (RadCCORE) to study “Improved immune reconstitution and function after combined burn-radiation injury.” This is the second grant awarded to the Burn Center by RadCCORE to identify and test specific countermeasures to promote function of the immune system toward fighting subsequent infection after burn injury, and after combined burn and radiation injury.
