On, November 10, 2014, Dr. Williams was notified she was accepted into the Simmons Scholar Program. Dr. Williams was nominated by Dr. Bruce Cairns, Director of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center and Dr. Anthony Meyer, Chair, Department of Surgery.

The Simmons Scholar Program has been built upon the abundant evidence that the research, clinical and educational enterprise of the School of Medicine will receive a direct and substantial benefit if there is broad diversity among its students and faculty. This Program was originally established in 1994 by then Dean Michael Simmons. In 2007, the mission of the Simmons Scholar Program was expanded to include the recruitment of a faculty member from any demographically underrepresented group that would meet the School of Medicine’s goal of a diverse workforce.

Congratulations Dr. Felicia Williams!
