Canvas is the learning management system used for all university courses. Faculty use Canvas in the best way to facilitate their course, but it is typically used to access resources, to submit assignments, and to communicate with students about the course. Your instructor will advise on how Canvas is used in your course.

For courses that are automatically created from ConnectCarolina enrollments, all registered students will see it in their . If you do not have access to these courses, you should check that you are properly registered for the course to ensure you will receive a grade.
For courses that are created manually, you can reach out to your instructor to add you to the course with your onyen or PID.
A course’s content can be toggled on in the calendar by ticking the box next to the course’s name from the calendars list. You can filter events on your calendar into Week, Month or Agenda view.
Courses can be added to your dashboard by clicking the star icon next to the course’s name in your tab on the global navigation bar.Ìý
The Global navigation menu is used to quickly access different features of Canvas. The menu provides quick links to your Canvas account features: Account, Dashboard, Course List, Calendar, Inbox (Direct Messages), History, and Help.Ìý

Note: Assessments using the Respondus Lockdown Browser cannot be launched with the Canvas app installed (even if you open the assessment from a browser). You may need to temporarily uninstall the Canvas app to take your assessment.

You can edit your account settings under the Account tab in the global navigation bar. Here you can make changes to your profile, notifications and shared files preferences. Notification settings can be applied globally or per course.
