Program Description:

The fellowship is a joint program between ºÚÁÏÍø Orthopaedics and and will enable fellows to receive training in both an academic tertiary center and high-volume private practice. The program will graduate 2 fellows per year and it is a one-year program.  Dr. Alex Creighton is the Program Director, with faculty Dr. Jeff Spang and Dr. Ganesh Kamath from the ºÚÁÏÍø. is the Site Director at the Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic with orthopaedists , , , , , and .  Jennifer Griffin is the Program Coordinator.  Athletic team coverage includes ºÚÁÏÍø, NC State, Shaw University, and area high schools.

Clinical Experience:

The goal of the fellowship is to prepare our fellows to be excellent clinicians and surgeons in the expanding field of orthopaedic sports medicine with emphasis on sports injuries and surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.

  • Arthroscopic and open surgery, including shoulder arthroplasty
  • Athletic training room and game/event management
  • Prevention and rehabilitation
  • Exercise and sports science knowledge and performance

Research Experience:

The fellows will be provided on average one day per week of protected research time. This day is dedicated to scholarly activity so that the fellow can accomplish meaningful research during the year.

The ºÚÁÏÍø Orthopaedics and Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic Sports Medicine Fellowship will only consider complete applications from students graduating from an ACGME accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency program.
