Congratulations to the , Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, in collaboration with , Bioinformatician and Principal Investigator, Blue Marble Space Institute of Science/NASA Ames Research Center; Visiting Researcher, Broad Institute; President, COVID-9 International Research Team, for the receipt of , entitled 鈥淪paceflight and Regolith Induced Mitochondrial Stress Mitigated by miRNAbased Countermeasures鈥�, from NASA.
With NASA Prinicipal Investigator (PI), Afshin Beheshti, the Schisler Lab along with six other labs will develop methods to: 1) monitor metabolic changes that occur during spaceflight/regolith exposure and 2) manipulate liver metabolism by using miRNA-targeting antagomirs specifically enhancing mitochondrial function. This includes access to lunar regolith (moon dust) for tissue-based experiments at the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory.
