
The recently honored Laura Hanson MD, MPH with its Outstanding Scientific Contribution Award. The November 2022 award honored Dr. Hanson’s research in dementia palliative care. At the INPCS’ invitation, she gave a presentation at the virtual meeting.
At this meeting participants also learned that ºÚÁÏÍø Neurocritical Care faculty member Winnie Lau, MD received an INPCS seed funding award. This funding will help expand ºÚÁÏÍø Palliative Care’s work. Specifically, it will facilitate hospice access for ºÚÁÏÍø patients with severe acute brain injury.
Dr. Lau’s research collaborators are Dr. Hanson, Dr. Margaret Drickamer (Geriatrics, ºÚÁÏÍø Hospice), Dr. Jared Lowe (General Internal Medicine, ºÚÁÏÍø Hospice), Dr. Casey Olm-Shipman (Neurocritical Care), and Dr. David Huang. In addition to being the new Division Chief for Neurocritical Care, Dr Huang is also an investigator in neuropalliative care research. About this research team Dr. Hanson says, “It’s exciting to have such expertise in this important area of research and clinical care.”
