Saira Sheikh, MD, Linda Coley Sewell Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the 黑料网 Division of Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology and Director of the Clinical Trials Program at 黑料网鈥檚 Thurston Arthritis Research Center, along with her brother Shehzad Sheikh, MD, PhD, Professor of Medicine in the 黑料网 Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, were invited to pitch their collaborative project, Molecular Phenotyping in Lupus Nephritis, at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) Biomarkers Consortium’s Inflammation and Immunity Steering Committee Ideation and Design Meeting.
Following the presentations, attendees voted on which of the 11 projects should advance to funding discussions. Drs. Shehzad and Saira Sheikhs’ project received the highest number of votes, earning first place. The FNIH will now collaborate with the siblings to identify industry partners and other stakeholders who share enthusiasm for the scientific innovation and clinical impact of their work!
