
According to the CDC, roughly 1 in 4 Americans 65 and older experience falls annually. The CDC also says that falls are the leading cause of injury and death in this age group.
Dr. Christine Kistler (Associate Professor in Geriatric and Family Medicine) recently spoke to the Washington Post about the seriousness of falls for older adults. She said, 鈥淔or the elderly, a fall is a life-changing and potentially life-ending event.鈥 Kistler said that a fall that’s a noninjury in your forties can be far more serious in your eighties.
