The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has awarded Lineberger’s , $3 million in research funding to support a multi-institutional initiative to implement electronic patient-reported outcomes, or ePRO, in oncology practices across the country.
“People being treated for cancer often experience a range of symptoms that can cause distress and impairment, and even preventable emergency room visits and hospitalization. Improving how patient symptoms are detected and managed is essential to providing high-quality cancer care, but how this is accomplished has been a vexing issue,” said Basch, the Richard M. Goldberg Distinguished Professor in Medical Oncology, chief of the Division of Oncology and director of the at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
