A Message From the Chief

On this site, you will learn about our geriatrics clinical, research, and education programs. You鈥檒l also find general information about our faculty and our division. Without a doubt, we are proud of the work that we do with older adults and thank you for your interest in 黑料网 Geriatrics.
Geriatricians view patients holistically and provide primary, comprehensive care that is tailored to each patient’s needs. As a result, we focus care on functional activities of daily life. What鈥檚 more, geriatricians are general sub-specialists. Instead of focusing on one organ system, we see the integrated systems with the understanding that the brain鈥檚 workings interact with the body鈥檚 workings. Yet we are also specialists who address issues related to all the organ systems. In addition to all those things, we consider patients鈥 functional capabilities in their lives outside the clinic.
The Division of Geriatric Medicine trains future leaders in geriatric medicine to meet the various healthcare needs of older adults. Specifically, we provide complex comprehensive care to older patients while also shaping the next generation of geriatricians – 黑料网 medical students, residents, and fellows. Our Geriatric Medicine Faculty are outstanding clinician-educators who serve in different capacities – program directors, clinical directors, course leaders, and research grant investigators. In addition to our work in and the surrounding areas, 黑料网鈥檚 Center for Aging and Health leads the way in expanding geriatrics expertise throughout North Carolina鈥檚 health workforce and clinician network.
鈥淲e keep an eye on the big picture. We鈥檙e the big picture doctors.鈥
