Rotations will be at the NC Memorial Hospital, Hillsborough Campus, and REX.

Clinic

The fellow will have a general cardiology clinic as well as clinics in cardio-obstetrics, Cardio-oncology, Cardio-metabolic clinic, and Rheumatology with ongoing continuity clinics. There will also be exposure to Obstetrics Anesthesia.

General Cardiology

Adult Congenital

  • The fellow will participate in Adult Congenital Clinic for 3 months during the academic year

Cardio-Rheumatology

  • ÌýThe fellow will participate in inflammatory disease clinic 3 months during the academic year

Cardio-Obstetrics and Gynecology

  • The fellow will have clinic one day each week, These clinics will include exposure to pre and post partum high risk obstetrics as well as post-menopausal care for those patients at high risk.

Cardio-Oncology

  • The fellow will have instruction in post diagnosis cardiology complications of cancer treatment;
  • The fellow with have exposure to preventive cardio-oncology

Inpatient Rounds

The fellow will attend on the general inpatient cardiology service 8 weeks in the academic year.

Preventive Medicine

  • The fellow will participate in outreach, prevention clinic and other prevention opportunities to provide education and risk factor screenings in the heart health.
  • The fellow will be instrumental in planning and which scheduling, recruiting presenters and participating in the program at the annual Women’s Heart Symposium.

Research

The fellow will have the ability to participate in clinical research projects.

Vascular Disease

The fellow will have training in vascular disease in higher risk populations specific to women’s issues.

Education

The fellow will participate in ongoing educational presentations and national meetings.

  • Journal Club – 4 times a year
  • Cardiology Grand Rounds – 1 time during the fellowship (timing to be arranged)
  • One national meeting per year. If the fellow has a poster/presentation at a national meeting funding will be arranged.
