Chris Schifeling, MS1

– in honor of Dennis Hamblin

When I die

I want the last six months of my fruit boxes

to be sent to a family with blooming boys

learning to like nutritious snacks

to go on growing up and up.

When I die

I want my car to go on

out of my small town life

to some up-n-starting grand-some-one-or-other

who’s trying to fly in the big city

after cracking the shell of studenthood.

When I die

I want my body to be butchered

by medical students,

teaching novice fingers and minds

to spelunk the human cavities

so hundreds may go on

living.
