Jen Jen Yeh, MD, has been appointed as an Assistant Dean for Translational Research in the ºÚÁÏÍø Office of Research. In this role, Dr. Yeh will bring her extensive experience in clinical and translational research to advance ºÚÁÏ꿉۪s mission of bridging scientific discovery with patient care.

A Professor of Surgery and Pharmacology, Dr. Yeh serves as Co-Leader of the ºÚÁÏÍø Lineberger Clinical Research Program, and Director of the ºÚÁÏÍø Lineberger Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence. Dr. Yeh earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University and completed her general surgery residency at Boston Medical Center. She further honed her expertise through a research fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and a surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Since joining the ºÚÁÏÍø faculty in 2005, she has been instrumental in driving cutting-edge research in gastrointestinal oncology, particularly in pancreatic cancer. Her work has led to significant breakthroughs, including the identification of molecular subtypes of pancreatic cancer with clinical implications and the development of innovative drug delivery technologies. Her contributions to translational medicine have earned her numerous accolades, including being named an Oliver Smithies Investigator and receiving the Hyman L. Battle Distinguished Cancer Research Award.

Beyond her scientific contributions, Dr. Yeh is a dedicated mentor and educator, committed to training the next generation of physician-scientists. Her leadership in translational research has led to significant collaborations across institutions, and she has played a key role in advancing precision medicine approaches for pancreatic cancer treatment.  As she transitions to this new leadership position, she will be stepping away from her role as Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery. She has selflessly supported research for faculty and trainees over the last 9 years, developing numerous core resources and educational offerings and expanding the department funding portfolio by 250% during her tenure.  The Department of Surgery ranked in the top 30 departments of surgery in the Blue Ridge rankings for the first time in 2024 under Dr. Yeh’s leadership.

Dr. Yeh’s appointment marks a significant step in ºÚÁÏ꿉۪s commitment to translational research excellence. Her vision, expertise, and leadership will be invaluable in shaping the future of research-driven healthcare solutions at ºÚÁÏÍø.
