The Office of Student Services supports the members of the student body throughout their Health Careers. All student related issues funnel through this office, and most activities that involve students, including Orientation, Semester Welcome-Back events, and Graduation are organized here. The Office of Student Services manages student data, supports clinical education, assists with course evaluations, and offers financial aid counseling.ÌýÌý

As the Associate Chair for Student Services in the Department of Health Sciences, my background in Clinical Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling is helpful as I mentor students and provide resources for our students to help them maximize their time at ºÚÁÏÍø and reach their personal and professional goals. Our office promotes student wellness, the unique disciplines of our department, helps to recruit students, collects and maintains student-related data, and assists students with financial, academic and social concerns.

Kimberly Capri is the Student Services Manager in the Office of Student Services, Department of Health Sciences. She helps to oversee the employees and the office environment within Student Services. In addition to her supervisory duties, she helps conduct student services for the Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science and other new programs when needed including admissions, registration, enrollment verification, and graduation. She has a background in Higher Education Administration from working at Boston University, East Carolina University and now ºÚÁÏÍø Chapel Hill. She has a M²¹²õ³Ù±ð°ù’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Boston University and has a passion for working with students and helping them succeed during their time in higher education.

Perry is the financial aid manager for the Department of Health Sciences. He handles questions from current and prospective students about applying for and receiving financial aid. Additionally, he is the student services coordinator for the Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program. He is responsible for admissions, registration, enrollment, and graduation tracking for the academic program. Perry received his bachelor’s degree from ºÚÁÏÍø Greensboro, and his M²¹²õ³Ù±ð°ù’s degree from East Carolina University.

Phillip HopkinsÌýÌý

Clinical Contracts Specialist

Phillip coordinates the contracts and affiliation agreements for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy students participating in clinical rotations during their time at ºÚÁÏÍø-CH. He served for 13 years as a Special Operator in the United States Air Force. He is fluent in Pashto and Dari and holds a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Liberty University.Ìý

Garrett works alongside Phillip as a clinical contract specialist with a focus in Audiology, Speech Language Pathology, Radiological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, and Clinical Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling. He previously held positions as a K-12 teacher and a licensed service technician and has worked in higher education for the past 3 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social science education from Auburn University.

Kayla is the Student Services Specialist for the Department of Health Sciences. She works with students in the Master of Speech-Language Pathology program, the Audiology Doctoral program, and the Radiography Certificate program. She assists students with admissions, enrollment, registration, and graduation processes during their time at ºÚÁÏÍø. She also creates and manages the course evaluations for the department. She has been working in higher education for 3+ years. Kayla received her BFA in New Media and Design from ºÚÁÏÍø Greensboro and enjoys doing artwork during her free time.

Tamara Mesko is the Administrative Assistant for several programs in the office of Student Services in Health Sciences. She works with students in Radiological Science for Masters and Bachelors, Occupational Therapy & Science, and Speech & Hearing Sciences to guide them through the admissions, registration, and graduation processes during their time at ºÚÁÏÍø. She has worked in higher education for 20 years, between ºÚÁÏÍø Greensboro and Chapel Hill. Tamara enjoys working behind the scenes to help all students achieve their goals and succeed in the Health Sciences field.ÌýÌýÌý

Carolyn Oakes, a Student Support Specialist in the Department of Health Sciences with over 16 years of experience in admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, assists prospective students with inquiries regarding admissions and applications processes for the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and Human Movement Science. Carolyn also works with current students enrolled in these programs and manages admissions, enrollment, registrations, and graduation processes. She finds joy in helping students achieve their goals and believes that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

 

Krislyn Nesmith

Krislyn is an administrative support specialist for the Department of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Program. She assists students with admissions, enrollment, registration, and graduation during their time at ºÚÁÏÍø. In addition, she is a support staff for the PA program directors and faculty. She has worked in education for over six years. Krislyn is an NC A&T alumnus and holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from NCCU.

She handles the compliance and clinical rotation onboarding process for the health science students. She received a bachelor’s degree in public health educationÌýand promotion from East Carolina University and enjoys helping students reach their academic goals.

Belle Basnight is the Staff Coordinator for the Department of Health Sciences, Office of Student Services, and the Chair’s Office. In this role, she plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities. Belle supports event coordination, manages timesheets, and assists with course evaluations throughout the department. She also contributes to the development of new programs, working to streamline processes and enhance the overall student experience.
