{"id":3031,"date":"2019-10-08T14:02:22","date_gmt":"2019-10-08T18:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/crmh\/?page_id=3031"},"modified":"2019-10-08T14:45:23","modified_gmt":"2019-10-08T18:45:23","slug":"general-alumni-association","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/crmh\/alumni\/general-alumni-association\/","title":{"rendered":"General Alumni Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6 col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-sm-12 oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<p>Since the formation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/alumni.unc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">General Alumni Association<\/a> in May of 1843, the GAA has served all of Carolina\u2019s living alumni \u2014 now numbering more than 330,000. The association maintains detailed records on all of Carolina\u2019s alumni. It sponsors class and affinity group reunions and Homecoming, welcoming all alumni back to their alma mater. The GAA\u2019s Carolina Clubs provide programs for all alumni, and the doors of the George Watts Hill Alumni Center are open to all alumni, every day.<\/p>\n<p>Since the late 19th century, the GAA has invited Carolina alumni to become dues-paying members, and GAA members enjoy a growing menu of member perks and services. Similar to alumni associations at the universities of Michigan, California, Virginia, and others, the GAA is self-governed, and members elect the GAA\u2019s Board of Directors.
