Center for Literacy and Disability Studies
David Yoder was the co-founder of the Center with David Koppenhaver and served as the first Center Director. Dr. Yoder holds a Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Kansas and was a Professor in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences, ºÚÁÏÍø Department of Allied Health Sciences, School of Medicine. Dr. Yoder’s research focused on the literacy needs of persons with severe speech and physical impairments, and assistive technology for adults with disabilities. In 2000, he received the Don Johnston/AbleNet Literacy Award “honoring professionals who raise expectations for AAC and literacy experiences for persons with disabilities.”
