Dr. Melissa Haendel (Distinguished Professor, Genetics and School of Data Science and Society) has received a new subcontract through University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) for an ARPA-H funded grant titled 鈥淐HARM: An End-to-End Toolchain for Collecting, Harmonizing, Analyzing, Reasoning about and Manipulating Biomedical Data鈥�.

Dr. Matthew Brush (Assistant Professor) received a Chan Zuckerberg/Wellcome Award for his project titled 鈥淟inkML: an open data modeling framework鈥�.聽

Margarita Dzama, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Jesse Raab, has been awarded a Fellowship grant from the American Cancer Society, for her project titled 鈥淚dentification of Epigenetic Therapies for Liver Cancer鈥�.聽

Jason Stein鈥檚 lab in the 黑料网 created a model to identify genetic variants linked to mental illness.

Ms. Kimberly Foss has been promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics.

The Department of Genetics, the Curriculum in Genetics and Molecular Biology (GMB) and the Curriculum in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) held a scientific retreat on September 29-October 1, 2024, at Myrtle Beach, SC.
