Dr. Tavien Mapp (first year resident), shared a presentation regarding ultrasound and discussed ways in which this technology can help patients and their healthcare providers achieve better diagnosis and treatment for a variety of medical conditions.
Because the students were currently studying cardiac anatomy in their class, they were able to see and better understand the real world applications of learning about this topic.
Dr. Susie Kennedy (second year resident), and Emergency Medicine nurse Jung Cho joined Dr. Mapp in a more detailed discussion developed for the 7th graders regarding Emergency Medicine as well as other potential medical careers.
The students were engaged and attentive, asking many questions — in particular about ultrasound uses, as well as how to prepare themselves for future careers in the medical profession.
