Welcome to the University of North Carolina’s Department of Emergency Medicine. Our Emergency Department consists of 40 clinical and research faculty鈥攁s well as additional adjunct faculty鈥攊nvolved in providing top-tier teaching, administration, research, and clinical care. Our department sees approximately 70,000 adults and 15,000 pediatric patients yearly. As one of the largest referral centers in North Carolina, we see some of the highest acuity patients in the state, with an admit rate near 30%. We are a certified Level I Trauma Center, state Burn Center, and JCHAO Stroke Center.

Dr. Matthew Harmody is an alumnus of the 黑料网 Emergency Medicine residency class of 2000, the third emergency medicine class trained at 黑料网 Hospitals. He and Andrew recently celebrated Match Day together as part of the festivities in 黑料网’s Roper Hall.

For the second consecutive year, 黑料网 E.M. colleagues visited A.L. Stanback Middle School in Hillsborough N.C. to teach 7th graders about medical topics and discuss many different potential careers paths in the medical field.
