Thank you for your interest in shadowing at the ºÚÁÏÍø Department of Anesthesiology! Shadowing in healthcare and in the operating room (OR) can be an incredibly valuable experience for those interested in medicine, particularly for students or aspiring healthcare professionals. It can also help with engagement and understanding how different roles within medicine work together to support clinical efforts.

In order to shadow, there are several steps that must first happen. Please carefully review the steps below if you are interested in shadowing with one of our clinicians.

  • Prior to reaching out to us, please make sure you are cleared to shadow at ºÚÁÏÍø Medical Center through following all the steps outlined by ºÚÁÏÍø Volunteer Services for Shadowing. This ensures health, safety and compliance with all ºÚÁÏÍø Health requirements.
  • Please review requirements here:
  • If you are not a ºÚÁÏÍø Health employee (do not use a ºÚÁÏÍø Health email) and are not a current volunteer, you will need to complete the compliance steps prior to reaching out to us.
  • Once you have completed the steps outlined above, please review information about different types of anesthesia providers for which we offer shadow experiences (eg, Physician Anesthesiologist OR CRNA/CAA).
