ºÚÁÏÍø Anesthesiology is thrilled to congratulate CRNA Shanna Weaver for being named the inaugural recipient of the Mary Karlet Anesthesia Program Service Award, an honor established by Duke University’s Nurse Anesthesia Program that recognizes exceptional leadership and dedication to the field of nursing anesthesia care. At the program’s White Coat Ceremony on March 3rd, Shanna was honored with this award by the program’s Class of 2027. Shanna is a graduate of Duke University’s Nurse Anesthesia Program (2007) and serves as Clinical Lead of Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist (SRNA)s at ºÚÁÏÍø Hospitals.
ºÚÁÏÍø Department of Anesthesiology Chief CRNA Aaron Lemmon, DNP, noted: “I personally cannot think of a more deserving individual than Shanna Weaver to be the inaugural recipient of this award. For 15 years, Shanna has served as ºÚÁÏÍø’s student coordinator for the Duke University Nurse Anesthesia Program SRNAs. In that time, she was the ultimate advocate for these students, ensuring that they received the clinical experiences necessary to become successful CRNAs. The number of careers that she helped mold during her time in this role is truly incredible to think about.”Â
