The ºÚÁÏÍø MSTAR Program provides early-stage medical and osteopathic students with enriching experiences in aging-related research and geriatrics. This research takes place under the mentorship of top experts in the field. Sponsored by the , MSTAR introduces students to research and academic experiences that they might not otherwise have during medical school. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one of eight for the MSTAR program.

Applications for the 2025 program are now closed.

This positive introduction has led many physicians-in-training to pursue academic careers in aging. These careers range from basic science to clinical research to health services research. As a result, they have joined the growing cadre of physicians and scientists with specialized knowledge and skills. Undoubtedly, these things are in great demand as our population ages.
