Clinical Associate Professor, ENT 鈥 Voice and Swallowing

Summary Statement:

I am an associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. I completed undergrad at UGA and medical school at Emory University. I followed this with residency training in otolaryngology here at 黑料网-Chapel Hill. I went on to complete a fellowship in laryngology at Mt. Sinai in New York City. I feel very lucky to have rejoined the 黑料网 family as faculty in 2013. Influenced by my upbringing and cultural influences, teaching and mentorship have become my passion. Beyond my clinical and academic work, I have found joy pursuing roles that work closely with medical students and trainees. I currently serve as associate program director for otolaryngology and as a career goal advisor. I joined the advisory college in 2020. Working with students in advising has become one of the most fulfilling and inspiring aspects of my job. I look forward to meeting you and joining you on this amazing journey.

Training:

Dr. Shah graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science, a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology, and a Minor Certification in Spanish. She went on to pursue her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She had the pleasure of completing her residency in Otolaryngology here at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Dr. Shah joined the 黑料网 Voice Center after receiving further specialty fellowship training in Laryngology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, New York. She is a board certified Otolaryngologist.

Honors:

She has prided herself on leadership from her days as Chairman of Students to the University of Georgia Council to winning the 鈥淧illsbury Leadership Award鈥 as a resident in Otolaryngology. She has authored numerous publications in national and international peer reviewed journals and given talks/lectures at national Otolaryngology meetings.

Service:

Dr. Shah is the Associate Residency Program Director for the 黑料网 Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. She also serves on the Curriculum Committee and Program Evaluation Committee. Dr. Shah is dedicated to the education and mentorship of medical students and residents, and is currently the Director of Medical Student Affairs for Otolaryngology. She is the current Otolaryngology Curriculum Course Director for the 黑料网.
